Like Mac & Cheese? Then This Houston Festival Is For You
You'll likely see lobster, truffles, chicken, and other items added to the staple at this Heights event.
Mac & Cheese. Some people are passionate about it. In fact, it seems that many people in Houston are mad about it, so much so that the city is getting its first festival dedicated to the dish.
The Houston Mac + Cheese rolls into the Heights on April 15, and it features more than two dozen restaurants competing to make the best mac & cheese dish in the city. All the rich fun takes place at Silver Street Studios (2000 Edwards St., 77007), and it kicks off at 12 p.m.
For $50 (general admission) you get unlimited samples of the dishes, one vote for the best dish, and five drink tickets. VIP tickets, which are going for $80, give you all the aforementioned, plus rapid entry to the festival, a Mac + Cheese Fest shirt, and access to special VIP zones.

Meanwhile, if you can't wait until the 15th to eat some of the beloved food, I recommend this version, which I've made countless times. It's delicious, and making it at home is a satisfying experience.
