Man Turns Son In To Police For 250 Car Burglaries, Stolen Guns

The 18-year-old son reportedly confessed to his father of car burglaries in jogging areas and mall parking lots, and thefts of an HPD gun.

HOUSTON, TX — A Houston man said he felt it was his duty to turn his 18-year-old son in to police after the son reportedly told his father through FaceTime about the guns he stole and cars he burglarized.

In an exclusive report by Houston's ABC 13, T.Daniels revealed a conversation he had with his son, Christian Daniels, on a FaceTime call where his son allegedly showed him stolen firearms.

The father alleges his son stole a Houston PD firearm because, when Christian showed his dad the black bag with a 9 mm handgun inside, a further look indicated it belonged to HPD.

"That really kind of ticked me off for him to even have a gun, and then you're going to steal one from a police officer, at that," the father said in the report.

The ABC report goes on to say that court documents stated Christian told his father he stole the bag with all of the police equipment inside a car he'd broke into. It also stated he told his father he'd burglarized 250 cars in the last week. He targeted jogging locations, mall parking lots and other parking lots.

The son also showed at least five different firearms to his father.

Daniels, a veteran, reported his son's crimes to the Austin Police Department, and said he felt it a responsibility to report his son and didn't want the crimes to continue escalating.

Christian Daniels was arrested April 17 and charged with theft of a firearm and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
