Puppy Alert Went Out, And The Response Was Overwhelming

Harris County Animal Shelter took in 59 dogs in a single hour, and the public came calling.

HOUSTON, TX — What to do when 59 cute puppies arrive at your door step in one hour? Well, if you are the Harris County Animal Shelter you take them in, make sure they are fed and healthy, and put the call out to the public.

That's exactly what happened at the shelter on Friday, and the next day people from all across the Houston area showed up ready to adopt one of the puppies. According to shelter officials, a line had formed at the organization's front door on Saturday morning, people wanting to give a home to an animal in need.

If you want to adopt a cat or dog, the shelter is located at 612 Canino Road; operating hours are 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
