Senior Ride-Share Company Coming To Houston

Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Envoy America is teaming with Access2Care to provide the elderly with transportation.

HOUSTON, TX — Senior citizens often find it difficult to get around, and not just when they're walking. Securing transportation to, for example, the doctor's office or an exercise class can be near impossible. That's about to change in Houston, if one company gets its way.

Envoy America, which specializes in ride-sharing programs for the elderly, is teaming up with American Medical Response's Access2Care to make it easier for Bayou City senior citizens to get to and fro from appointments, celebrations, and daily destinations. As many as 200 drivers will be hired in the partnership, according to Envoy America, which did not announce a start date for the program.

The Scottsdale, Ariz.-based company was founded in 2015 by Andy Beran and Karim Kanaan, and has since then inked deals with corporate clients including the American Cancer Society and the Mayo Clinic. American Medical Response's Access2Care program gives seniors non-emergency rides from hospitals to other medical facilities, such as rehabilitation and nursing centers.

"The plan is to expand to the 22 states," and grow into additional states as Access2Care grows, Kanaan told Houston Business Journal.
