Spooky! 10 Haunted Houston Houses To Frighten The Dickens Out Of You

These attractions are on every weekend through All Hallow's Eve

HOUSTON, TX — Calling all ghosts, ghouls, goblins and gory Grim Reapers, this is the month of horrifying, hair-raising howls, haunted houses and, oh yea, Halloween. Houston is one of the largest cities in the country, and it's no coincidence there are no shortages of spooky, startling and supernatural sites to visit for All Hallow's Eve.

Of course there's traditional trick-or-treating and fall festivals, but there are also several spooky, spine-chilling, scary, startling and shadowy places that'll make you scream. It's all in good fun for both family and adults.

So RIP to dull nights of paper vampires and telling campfire ghost stories with the flashlight under your chin. Here are 10 local places to witness witchcraft, wizardry, werewolves, warlocks and the just plain weird around the Bayou City.

Scream World • 2225 North Sam Houston Pkwy West, Houston

Times/Dates: Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Thurs.—Sun. and 8 p.m. on Fri.-Sat., Thursday - Sunday through October 22; October 24 - 31; November 3 - 4.

The $17 admission includes a high-tech swamp, a grim, old-style meat processing plant, an asylum maze, zombie graveyard and The Edge of Darkness, which features scenes from the dark underside of our modernizing society – including our Hospital Room, the Boiler Room, Death Row and the Morgue. Those who want to pay $37 apiece move to the front of the line.

Phobia • 5250 S Sam Houston Pkwy E, Houston • (713) 526-DEAD

Times/Dates: Fri.—Sun. through Oct. 22, and Oct. 26-31. Times vary each day and each week.

There are six killer attractions beginning at $15 for one house and $35 for three houses. Houses included Dawn of the Machine, Genetic Nightmare and Mind Control. There are also three exile attractions for a $30 ticket, and they include Darke World — where you are what you eat, Savage World — with open-air infestation and fearful lurkers rioting in the street, and Contagion, where you face both the disease and the crisis.

Nightmare on the Bayou • 1515 Studemont St., Houston

Times/Dates: Fri.-Sat. every weekend through Nov. 4. Every Thursday starting Oct. 19 and Oct. 26-31. Times vary.

For as little as $22, you can visit the No. 1 Haunted House in the U.S. by American Haunts 2017. It claims to be the only haunted house "with real ghosts." It's located next to Houston's oldest graveyard in The Heights.

Creepy Hollow Haunted House • 12872 Valley Vista Drive, Rosharon

Times/Dates: Every weekend with added dates near Halloween. Times vary.

There's the Scare Factory, Dark Woods and Pitch Black, making visitors ache to see the light again. Tickets are $30 for our 3 Main Attractions (Pitch Black, Dark Woods & Scare Factory), and a $10 speed pass can be purchased at the box office. The side attractions included with the $30 price:Fight The Knight, Freak Show, Creepy Hollow World Of Oddities, Voodoo Lounge and Bus Adventure.

Houston Scream Fest • 1500 Elton St, Houston

Times/Dates: Open every Thurs.-Sun., and also on Oct. 30-31 (Mon.-Tues.)

This attraction is one of the most popular among Houstonians, and it includes 10 attractions for one price. These include a sanitarium, castle of doom, Texas Chainsaw Maze, Zombie Paintball Shoot and more. Admission is $40 per person for one night of $50 for a weekend pass.

Redrum Haunted House • 1800 E Hwy 90 Alt, Richmond

Times/Dates: Open every Fri.-Sun, and even more dates near Halloween. Times vary.

A realistic tour of imaginary and the strange in one of the region's scariest haunts. Throw in some psychotic clowns and this is downright eery.

Kingwood Asylum and Haunted Grounds • 1965 Northpark Drive, Kingwood

Times/Dates: October- 6, 7, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28,29, 31, Nov. 3-4. Times vary per day

Some say the walls of the Asylum have stories that would make you question the limits of humanity. The woods, and the earth it’s self is tainted, ruined, and diseased. The unfortunate souls treated by Dr. Philip Blackman and his staff will see you.

Houston Terror Dome Haunted House • 16030 East Freeway, Channelview

Times/Dates: Fri.-Sun. every weekend with additional dates surrounding Halloween. Times vary.

It's probably saying something when the sign says bring your own underwear, and that they strongly recommended that pregnant women, people with heart conditions, people with asthma (fog machines), and total wusses not to enter. Wear a costume on Friday 13th and save $5 off price of admission.

Hellusions Haunted House • located at West Oaks Mall (SH6 and Westheimer) next to the theater

Times/Dates: Open Fri.-Sun. every weekend and additional dates at Halloween. Times vary.

The cheapest of the bunch, admission starts at $5. There's a wicked interactive haunt, where you can make your way through the abandoned Vanished in the Darkness building with only a backpack and flashlight to guide you. Defuse a bomb against the clock and experience many other blood-curdling events.

The Haunted Trails • 11500 Antoine Dr., Houston

Times/Dates: Every weekend with more dates close to Halloween. Times vary per day and week.

Psycho Follow and Haunted Trails are two attractions. When night falls and the monsters of these woods begin to howl, you'll enter a realm of terror you could not have imagined. Acres of mortifying scenes and unnatural creatures await eagerly to quench their undying thirst for your screams. What lurks among these trees? What sinister beings have you in their sights?
