The driver and his rear passenger died when he fell asleep behind the wheel while traveling near the Eastex Freeway.
HOUSTON — Two people were killed in a horrific rollover crash Thursday morning after the driver fell asleep and ran off the roadway, police said. The crash happened at about 3:20 a.m. in the 3700 block of Parker Road in northeast Houston.
Police said the driver was traveling eastbound on Parker near Dodson, when he dozed off. A front passenger apparently realized they were going to crash and tried to grab the steering wheel, but it was too late.
The vehicle ran into a ditch, struck a tire and flipped several times before coming to rest on its roof, police said.
