Cardboard City reminds Humble ISD students that homelessness is close to home

After a two-year hiatus, Cardboard City will be back in town this month. A partnership between Humble Area Assistance Ministries (HAAM), Family Promise of Lake Houston, and Humble ISD, the purpose of this fundraising event is to raise awareness and support for Humble-area families who are homeless and enduring tough times.
Cardboard City is a service-learning opportunity open to all Humble ISD middle and high school students. This supervised, overnight event will be held Saturday, March 21-22 at Turner Stadium in Humble. It will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday and will end at 6 a.m. Sunday. The evening will be full of meaningful and engaging activities, including concerts and live performances by local bands, exercises led by Camp Gladiator and stations to build topic awareness through simulation of a variety of homeless experiences, such as a model of a car where a family might live.
