Creekwood principal sleeps on school roof to raise money for families impacted by Imelda

Walt Winicki, principal of Creekwood Middle School, raised the stakes when he proclaimed that he would sleep on the roof of the school if the total dollars raised for Imelda relief benefiting the families of his school reached a certain dollar figure.
Winicki said, “In the most recent floodwaters of Tropical Storm Imelda, 38 families of our campus were impacted from a few inches to nearly 2 feet. I would love to raise funds in the form of cash and gift cards to give each family a little bit of relief from the devastation they have experienced.”
As of the end of the day, Wednesday, Oct. 2, over $5,000 was already raised. As promised, Winicki climbed up to the roof and slumbered under the stars for a great cause. With the help of several teachers, staff and community members, the monies raised continues to rise.
