Cunningham awarded open Humble seat

(Tribune)

History was made tonight, Sept. 5, as the Humble City Council appointed the first African-American to serve on the council.
The Humble City Council announced the appointment of Charles Cunningham, a longtime Humble resident with a strong history of public service to the council. The vacancy opened after the death of Glen Redmon earlier this summer.
The council began with a public hearing regarding the adoption of the Fiscal Year 2020 budget. The budget is estimated to raise more revenue from property taxes than last year’s budget by the amount of $520,223, which is over an 11% increase year-over-year due to the new property additions in the area.
