
Thirty years ago, it was a pink and turquoise shopping mall-to-be. While today’s urban planners see many possibilities for large malls, three decades ago changing Deauville Mall into a hospital was a radical and some said, just plain weird, idea.
But those detractors are silent today as what opened as Kingwood Medical Center back in 1991 is today a 420-bed, bustling center of activity with additions, new programs and is even home to 100 resident physicians.
