Humble ISD Gets $468,000 Pre-K Grant

Humble ISD plans to use a $468,000 grant from the state of Texas to upgrade its pre-kindergarten program.

HUMBLE, TX — About 675 students in Humble ISD's pre-kindergarten program will benefit from a $468,000 grant from the state of Texas. The funds are part of a $116 million school funding package included in House Bill 4, passed during the 2015 legislative session.

Humble ISD plans to use the money to seriously upgrade its Pre-K offerings. The district wants to reduce staff-to-student ratios in Pre-K classes, expand available programming and invest in additional classroom technology.

The district also plans to extend the contract for ReadyRosie, a streaming video and mobile content service focused on early education, create uniformity of instructional materials throughout all Pre-K classrooms and expand professional development for all Pre-K staff.
