Humble ISD Teacher Killed In Fatal Car Crash During Storm

Police said 25-year-old Amy Woodeshick, a 4th grade teacher, was killed when her car hit a fallen tree on Kingwood Drive on Friday.

KINGWOOD, TX -- An Humble ISD elementary school teacher was killed during Friday's dangerous storms when she crashed into a downed tree.

The crash happened in the 4500 block of Kingwood Drive at about 8:30 p.m., as heavy rain and gusty winds from a powerful storm that knocked out power, caused flooding and uprooted trees, police said.

The driver of the car was identified as 25-year-old Amy Woodeshick, a 4th grade teacher at Groves Elementary School.

Police Woodeshick was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital and died from wounds sustained in the crash.

"We are devastated to share the tragic news. Fourth-grade teacher Amy Woodeshick died last night after a car accident on Kingwood Drive, where the storm caused trees to snap and fall.
"Amy, 25, graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in Tomball and the University of Houston. She completed students teaching at Shadow Forest Elementary School, taught 6th grade English at Humble Middle School last year, and was a Groves fourth grade teacher this school year. She loved helping children learn and grow, and she made students' school days bright.
"We are in contact with her parents, and service arrangements are pending. Counselors will be available on campus Monday for any staff or students needing support."
