Husband Killed, Wife Injured When SUV Hits Utility Pole
Police said speed and the wet road conditions played a role in the death of a man in a one-vehicle crash that injured his wife on Wednesday.
HUMBLE, TX — An Humble man was killed and his wife was critically injured when he lost control on a slick street and smashed into a utility pole, investigators said. The fatal crash happened in the 16300 block of Old Humble Road around 9:30 a.m.
A spokesman with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the driver, who was not identified, was driving too fast for the road conditions and hydroplaned on the wet street.
Investigators said the tires on the SUV were worn, and lost traction on the road, which caused the SUV to spin into the pole and smashed the driver side door, killing the driver.
