Lake Houston YMCA celebrates with grand reopening

Many in the community breathed a collective sigh of relief when the Lake Houston Family YMCA partially reopened last June and fully in March after it was devastated by Hurricane Harvey. Last Tuesday, business leaders, dignitaries, YMCA staff, donors and many others gathered to celebrate the reopening with a ribbon-cutting and words from Y leaders.
Lake Houston Family YMCA Executive Director Christopher Butsch boasted about how much he loves working in this community and with the staff at that location, citing that the staff are why, in his opinion, the Lake Houston Y is the best.
YMCA of Greater Houston President Stephen Ives began the new position about six months ago, coming from Maine. He used that connection to paint a mental picture for the audience by speaking of “lighthouses and people.”
