Welcome, everyone, to Out and About – here to catch you up on what’s happening in the Lake Houston area!
Over 600 people attended the Mothers Against Cancer luncheon in December and because of all that amazing support, MAC was able to present a check for $332,000 to Texas Children’s Cancer Center for pediatric cancer research! What a fantastic job by the committee! Now they are turning their attention to the Virginia Gandy 5K Run & Walk being held Saturday, April 27, at Kingwood High School and the Be The Match registry drive for bone marrow transplantation. All it takes is a simple cheek swab. For patients diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma and other life-threatening diseases, a bone marrow or cord blood transplant may be their best or only hope for a cure. Seventy percent of patients who need a transplant do not have a fully matched donor in their family. They depend on Be The Match supporters to find a match to save their life.
