The universe is a very big place; so large, in fact, we are not able to see it all. The understanding of most astronomers is that it all started with a “Big Bang.” Currently the universe is expanding and that expansion is accelerating. This means that in the past it was smaller, and in the distant past it must have been infinitesimal.
