Suspicious fires, rise in motor vehicle burglaries reported in Kingwood
At the July 10 Kingwood Service Association (KSA) Public Safety Committee, Houston Fire Department District Chief Charlie Martin reported three fires of suspicious nature. All occurred in Forest Cove in the same general location south of Hamblen Road in vacant townhomes. The last first was on the July 4 holiday.
“The townhomes that have been abandoned have been burning. We’ve had three fires in the last three weeks. Two of the fires were defensive upon arrival, meaning there was no safe way to get into them. In the first, three homes were burning when they [firefighters] pulled up. It went to the ground. A week later, they were mattress fires in an abandoned building and on July 4, there were two more burning closer to the golf course and Hamblen Road,” he said.
