Texans Release Punter Shane Lechler, Keep Rookie: Report
In his post game presser Thursday night, Coach Bill O'Brien described Lechler as a "Hall of Fame punter."

HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Texans will turn to a youth movement at punter: releasing six-time All-Pro punter Shane Lechler and keeping undrafted rookie Trevor Daniel from Tennessee.
The Houston Chronicle’s John McClain reported Friday that the Houston Texans had cut Lechler, who was a 2000 fifth-round pick from Texas A&M. Lechler will look to catch on with another team as he has said he has no plans to retire.
Meanwhile, the Texans will gamble on a rookie to handle punting duties as the team opens the season Sept. 9 at the New England Patriots.
