Before there was coronavirus, there was swine flu.
It was 1976 and we didn’t have 24-hour news channels giving us minute-by-minute, blow-by-blow coverage. We certainly didn’t have Facebook and Twitter and those wildly inaccurate neighborhood blogs filled with lots of inaccurate fabrications.
All we had was Walter Cronkite, our beloved CBS evening news anchor, who got us up to date for a half hour every evening.
