Traffic Signal at Kingwood Drive and Royal Forest to Stay On
The city of Houston has determined that it isn't going to turn off the traffic signal at Royal Forest and Kingwood Drive

KINGWOOD, TX — There won't be any changes made to the intersection of Kingwood Drive and Royal Forest. The city of Houston has decided to keep the traffic light and end, what was becoming, an unpopular traffic study.
The decision comes after Houston City Council Member Dave Martin reviewed community feedback and the results of the study with employees from the public works and engineering department. According to a news release sent out announcing the decision, Martin and the PW&E people decided that any improvements to mobility at the intersection wouldn't offset any increases in traffic accidents.
Although if Martin really is serious about increasing traffic flow and keeping people safe he'd give a long, hard look at installing a roundabout at the intersection.

There is also talk of increasing Kingwood Drive from four to six lanes and putting a grade separation, think overpass or underpass, so cars don't have to deal with trains. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen.
