Dallas Area Real Estate Markets Best In US: Study

Three cities in the Dallas area have the best real estate markets in the country, according to a new study.

The Dallas area is home to some of the best real estate markets in the country, according to a new study by financial research website WalletHub. Frisco came up in the top spot, with McKinney following at a close second.

Texas is well-represented high on the list. Frisco and McKinney were first in small and medium-sized cities, respectively, and Fort Worth took third in large cities. Overall, Texas has seven of the first 15 spots.

WalletHub looked at 300 cities around the country. They split 22 key factors into two categories: real estate market and affordability and economic environment. Each factor was measured and added to the score.

Real estate market includes factors like the median home price appreciation, how long houses stay on the market, foreclosure rates and the share of young homes.

The affordability and and economic environment score includes affordability of housing and of maintenance, unemployment rates, median credit score and more.

It doesn't end there. Allen came in a close second on the small city list behind Frisco, Irving came in in sixth for medium-sized cities, and Austin came in eighth in the large city section.
