Dallas Family's Harry Potter Halloween Costume Goes Viral

"The response has been absolutely wild. We never expected it to go viral," AnnaMarie Stephens told Patch.

FRISCO, TX -- A Frisco family has turned their Harry Potter obsession into a viral sensation. AnnaMarie Stephens and her husband Corey's Halloween costume, which features their son dressed up as a screaming mandrake, has been shared more than 236,000 times on Facebook as of Wednesday morning. In the Harry Potter series, a mandrake is a plant that screams whenever it's pulled from the ground.

The couple went to Disney World and Universal Studios for their honeymoon last year, which is where they bought the robes, AnnaMarie Stephens told Patch through Facebook.

"I’ve always been a huge fan of Halloween, it’s my favorite holiday," Stephens added. "So I wanted to do something really fun and unique for our first Halloween as a family. I think it worked out okay! Haha. The response has been absolutely wild. We never expected it to go viral. We were just trying to be clever and make a few people laugh."
