Suspect Accused Of Shooting DPS Trooper Arrested

FRISCO, TX -- The Frisco Police Department has arrested Bryan M. Cahill, 42, and charged him with aggravated assault on a police officer after he allegedly shot and injured a DPS trooper Friday. Cahill, of Frisco, was found inside an apartment in the 6800 block of Lebanon Road, Frisco PD said in a news release.

"Negotiators worked throughout the incident to convince the suspect to give up. At multiple times during the standoff, the suspect fired multiple rounds at officers as they attempted to effect an arrest," Frisco PD added.

Cahill was arrested after a 15 hour standoff. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for serious injures and will be placed into Collin County Jail, Frisco PD added.

On Friday afternoon, a DPS said a trooper was trying to conduct a traffic stop around 2:15 p.m. on the Dallas North Tollway near Spring Creek for a traffic violation when Cahill evaded him for an unknown reason. Cahill went north to the 6800 block of Lebanon Road and stopped in an apartment complex parking lot. The DPS said that at some point after the vehicle stopped, the trooper was shot.
