Adrian Peterson Calls Houston Texans A 'Perfect Landing Spot'

Would the Palestine, Texas native be a good fit with the Texans?

HOUSTON, TX — Adrian Peterson calls Houston home, and he wants to return for good. The all-pro running back said during an ESPN interview Friday that Houston would be a "perfect landing spot" as he winds down his career.

"It has always been my dream to come back home and play," Peterson said. "Taken that I've been living in Houston for over a decade. That would be a perfect landing spot, here in my backyard. That would be very convenient."

Peterson has owned a home in The Woodlands that was put on the market last fall.

Peterson is from the East Texas hamlet of Palestine and was regarded the nation's top running back recruit — and on a short list of the best all-time in Texas high school history — when he was a senior at Palestine High. After a highly-publicized recruiting process, he chose Oklahoma.

Peterson was an all-pro running back for the Minnesota Vikings for nearly a decade. He began the 2017 season with the New Orleans Saints and was traded to the Arizona Cardinals mid-season.

He was released by the Cardinals earlier in this week before he would have been owed a $750,000 bonus.

Peterson injured his neck in Week 12 and didn't play the rest of the season

Though he turns 33 next week, Peterson said Friday he has "at least three to four" years left in the NFL and that "as far as my body and how I feel physically, I feel great."

The Texans went on running back-by-committee in 2017 and didn't have a 1,000 yard rusher. Lamar Miller led the Texans with 888 yards and a team-high three rushing touchdowns.

The Texans expect quarterback Deshaun Watson to be fully recovered from his season-ending ACL injury sustained in a practice last season.
