Astros World Championship, 'This One's For Houston!'

HOUSTON, TX — No, Houston, there isn't a problem and hell didn't really freeze over. The Houston Astros won the World Series. The Astros are world champions. Houston defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-1, in Game 7 at Dodger Stadium to stake claim to the world title.

Goodbye to 50-something years of suffering, bye Boston Red Sox, bye New York Yankees, bye Los Angeles Dodgers and, most importantly, goodbye Hurricane Harvey. And hello to what Houstonians have craved for so long.

"This one's for the city of Houston," countless players echoed in post-game interviews.

This may go down as one of the best World Series of all time, and for good reason. Now, it may be the start of a potential dynasty with young players, a fairly-new ownership and equally-young coaching.

Houston Celebrates As Astros Win World Series

The Houston Astros made it their goal to win a world championship during spring training, but they had more motivating factors as the season went on. There were mid-season plunders and injuries, and then Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria that battered the homelands of the home team and its families. But the Astros prevailed over everything and won the 2017 World Series with a 5-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 7 on Wednesday night.

The Astros were among their best ever this season before Harvey hit Texas as a powerful Category 4 storm in late August. Though their schedule got slightly altered, the team bonded with the city and state to become "Houston Strong" and an entire region rallied.

Astros outfielder George Springer was named World Series MVP.

The Astros are the first Houston team to win a major sports championships since the Houston Rockets in the 1994-95 season.
