Houston Flood Watch: HFD To Have High Water Vehicles On Standby

Houston Fire Department will have four high-water vehicles on standby for the pending flood that's forecast to hit the Bayou City

HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Office of Emergency Management has notified surrounding agencies of heavy rainfall on Wednesday (March 28) with possible area street flooding. In preparation for this event The Houston Fire Department will deploy a High Water Vehicle (HWV) to Fire Station #37 for this temporary event.

General Truck Body will deliver the 5-ton 6x6 military grade machine to the station.

HFD stations 5, 57 and 58 currently have HWVs assigned to their respective stations if also needed.

Houston is under a flash flood watch beginning Wednesday morning and lasting through Thursday morning, with the heaviest rains falling on the morning commute through the afternoon on Wednesday.
