Houston Road Construction: Spur 5 Northbound To Close For Seven Months
Texas Department of Transportation begins work on I-45 northbound direct connector

HOUSTON, TX — Beginning Friday at 9 p.m., Spur 5 going northbound on the I-45 Gulf Freeway will be closed, forcing motorists to make detours on the heavily trafficked stretch of highway.
The project, which will see the demolition of Spur 5 and the construction of the I-69/US 59 northbound direct connector, will result in two direct connectors at the I-45 and I-69/US 59 interchange.
Motorists traveling on the stretch will be forced to detour to the Scott St//Downtown exit and continue on to the I-45 northbound frontage road or, alternatively, take the St. Joseph/Pease St. exit. The detours will be in effect for around seven months.
