Houston Weekend Shootings: 3 Dead, 4 More Wounded In 6 Shootings
Teenage girl among the dead this weekend, as well as one man who went out with another man's ex-girlfriend.

HOUSTON, TX — It was a busy weekend for the Houston police as there were six reported shootings, including three fatalities. Here's the weekend roundup as reported by the Houston Police Department.

Girl's ex-boyfriend shoots current boyfriend dead with a rifle
A man and his girlfriend were leaving the AMC Gulf Pointe 30 movie theater Saturday night when they were allegedly approached by the girl's ex-boyfriend, Adrian Mondragon. HPD reported that Mondragon confronted the couple, and then took a rifle and shot the girl's current boyfriend in the chest. The man died at the scene. His identity is pending forensics review.

Mondragon, a 22-year-old Hispanic male who is charged with murder in the 178th State District Court, fled the scene in a black Chevrolet pickup truck and remains at large at this time.

Juvenile girl shot dead, another man wounded
Police are investigating the deadly shooting of a 15-year-old female and the wounding of 36-year-old man that occurred at 6111 Glenmont Street about 4:15 p.m. on Sunday (April 15). The identity of the girl is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
According to police, HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call and found the man and girl who had been shot. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The male victim was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive. The suspects, described only as three to five males, fled the scene in a pickup truck of unknown make and model.
Man killed in suspicious shooting
HPD patrol officers responded to a suspicious person with a weapon call at 4040 Boone Road about 9:05 p.m. last Friday night and found a man lying dead in the parking lot of a convenience store. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. At this time, there are no known witnesses nor suspects.
Man charged in Midtown mechanic shop murder
Charges have been filed and Eliud Echeverria has been arrested in the fatal shooting of Adolfo Sanchez that occurred at 2326 Berry around 6:30 p.m. last Thursday (April 12). Echeverria, a 40-year-old Hispanic male, is charged with murder in the 232nd State District Court. Sanchez, 70, was pronounced dead at Lyndon Baines Johnson General Hospital. Sanchez was found inside his mechanic shop with a gun shot wound to the head. A witness reported hearing a gunshot from approximately one block away.
Further investigation identified Echeverria as the suspect in this case and he was taken into custody last Friday (April 13) without incident.

Teenage girl shot while inside car
A 14-year-old girl was shot while riding in a car and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds. Police say the girl and an adult male and female were traveling in a black Cadillac Fleetwood southbound on 1900 North Freeway (I-45 North) when the vehicle was struck by gunfire around 5 p.m. Saturday. The teenage girl, a front seat passenger, was struck in the right leg. No other persons in the vehicle were injured.
At this time, there is no known motive nor suspect(s).
Two men shot outside night club
Two men, Paul Guenzel, 50, and Jose Hernandez, Jr., 26, were taken to area hospitals in unknown conditions after a shooting outside a night club early Saturday morning.
HPD stated that Guenzel was working as a security guard at a club at 7700 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) at about 2:05 a.m. on Saturday (April 14) and escorted Hernandez out of the club. Once Guenzel and other security guards arrived at Hernandez's car, Hernandez got into the back seat, retrieved a firearm and shot Guenzel. Guenzel and the other security guards returned fire and Hernandez was struck. Both men were then transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to the hospital. No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is continuing.
