Man Mistaken For Garbage Bag Is Killed On Houston Road

Driver ran over victim on Old Spanish Trail; no charges were filed.

HOUSTON, TX — A man is dead after being run over by a car on Old Spanish Trail on Monday evening, police officials said, who added that the driver of the car that struck the victim thought he had run over a trash bag.

The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on the roadway; the driver was headed west near Scott Street when he hit an object that was lying in the middle of the road. He later told police officers that he thought it was a trash bag.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, were he died around 1 a.m. Police said, as reported by the Houston Chronicle, that the driver showed no signs of being intoxicated.
