Woman Dead, Man Hospitalized In SW Houston Shooting
Police say a man kicked in a door and shot his girlfriend dead in a Southwest Houston apartment complex Thursday.

HOUSTON, TX — Houston police said they received a call from a woman who was having a nasty fight with her boyfriend Thursday at a Southwest Houston apartment complex. The cops arrived, only to find just the woman there as the boyfriend had vanished.
They searched for the man but didn’t find him. Police took pictures of her injuries and took her fingerprints.
After they left, the woman reportedly requested the lock on her front door be changed at the Spring Village Apartment Complex, located at 11810 Chimney Rock Road. The boyfriend arrived not long after she did it, and then kicked down the door, shot his girlfriend and then shot himself, according to the report.

Houston Police Department Assistant Chief Wendy Baimbridge said the woman’s family was aware of a history of violence between the couple.
"It’s a cycle of abuse, so recognize the signs when you’re in it,” Baimbridge said. “And prevent it and get away from it. And sadly it looks like she was trying to do that but it was too late.”

The woman was in her 30’s and has three children. The boyfriend, who’s also in his 30’s, was not the father, the report said.
