Houston police say a man approached a woman and asked to use her phone. After she refused, a fight ensued and he allegedly shot her to death

HOUSTON, TX — A woman who went out for groceries on Saturday arrived back at her townhome in southwest Houston to the greeting of a man asking to use her cellphone. She denied him. The two got into a tussle, and he allegedly pulled gun and shot the woman twice. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Houston Police Department Homicide Division said they're not sure if the man was trying to rob the woman, but they have caught the suspect and recovered the weapon.

The shooting happened on the 2500 block of Reed Road.
