Barbara Bush Celebration Of Life In Houston Open To The Public
The public is encouraged to wear pearls or the color blue as a tribute to the former first lady. City Hall will be lit up in light blue.

HOUSTON, TX — There will be a Celebration of Life for the late former first lady Barbara Bush on Thursday in Hermann Square at Houston City Hall on Thursday night. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner will be joined by city leaders and guests to celebrate the life and legacy of Barbara Bush, who died at her River Oaks home Tuesday evening.
The celebration will begin at 6 p.m., and the public is encouraged to wear pearls or the color blue as a tribute to Mrs. Bush. Starting tonight, Wednesday, April 18, the lights of city hall will shine a light blue in her memory.
The city requests that ask that all offerings of flowers,teddy bears or personal notes be taken to the Houston Central Public Library Barbara Bush Plaza located at 500 McKinney Street.

The uplifting celebration Thursday night will include remarks by William Lawson, Founding Pastor, Wheeler Baptist Church, Samuel Karff, Rabbi Emeritus, Congregation Beth Israel, and Joseph Fiorenza, Archbishop, the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, performances by the Houston Children's Chorus under the direction of Stephen Roddy, interfaith prayers, a reading of a poem written for the occasion and other tributes.
