"Hello everyone,
Find out what's happening in Midtown Houstonfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
We’re very sorry that we weren’t able to play our show in Houston on August 25 due to Hurricane Harvey.
We’ve decided to cancel the show so that everyone can get a refund – but we will make sure that everyone who had tickets for the August 25 show will have priority access for the next time we play in Houston.
We send our love to everyone in Houston and everyone affected by the hurricane.
Love Coldplay"
Hurricane Harvey was a Category 2 storm churning toward Category 3 status expected to make landfall on the evening Coldplay was originally scheduled to play. Houston was expected to take on a little more than 15 inches of rain in some places. The storm became so much more powerful and the rain epic as Harvey made landfall as a Category 4 and dumped more than 50 inches of rain in several places around Houston.
The band wrote on its Twitter page on Aug. 25: "Hi everyone in Houston. We really wanted to play tonight, but sitting here all together watching the news about the storm we feel that we can't ask anyone to put their safety at risk. So, sadly, we will have to postpone"
Here are some Tweets and messages surrounding the initial postponement on Aug. 25.
