Driver Rams Her Car Into Pappas Bar-B-Q Patio

Police say motorist lost control after hitting an SUV, then struck pedestrian; restaurant was open for business on Tuesday.

HOUSTON, TX — Texans love their barbecue, but this seems a bit much. On Monday evening, a woman slammed her car into the patio area of the Pappas Bar-B-Q restaurant on Bissonnet Drive, losing control after she ran into an SUV.

Police officials said one pedestrian was struck by the woman's car, but released no information about injuries or if the driver had been intoxicated.

The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. Witnesses said diners in the restaurant hit the ground when the woman's car crashed into the building, and that a man cut the driver of the car from her seatbelt.

"My prayer was that no one was hurt badly," Robert Taylor told KTRK. "And thank God that no one was on the patio eating dinner."

Police officials said two people in the SUV at the time of the collision were taken to a hospital.
