Houston Issues Parking Plan For Spring Break 2017 Activities

Spring Break starts on Saturday, and the Rodeo, the zoo, the Museum District, and other destinations have your back.

HOUSTON — School's out for Spring Break in Houston beginning Saturday, and students have no class until the 19th. There's lots to do in the Houston area, of course, and plenty of families are going to be driving from place to place engaging in all kinds of activities. Can you say traffic jam?

With that in mind, Mayor Sylvester Turner and other officials have released a master driving and parking plan to help you maneuver as you visit the Houston Zoo and the city's museums, and attend the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.

“Houstonians and visitors alike use spring break to experience our city’s best family attractions,” the mayor said this week as he announced the plan. “With an increase in attendance during this week, we want to make traveling to and from these world-class destinations as easy as possible. Our plan will allow for more time enjoying the attractions and less time in traffic and searching for parking.”

“Spring Break is one of our highest-attended weeks during the year. We are always grateful for the city’s efforts to help minimize the traffic issues,” said Latha Thomas, vice president of marketing and communications for the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

Whatever you do, enjoy the free time, and drive safely.
