Houston Speed Skater Channels His Inner Astros In PyeongChang
Jonathan Garcia has sported Houston Astros gear, channeled his inner Jose Altuve and replayed Game 5 of the World Series to get ready.

Jonathan Garcia, who was born in Katy, has been a Houston Astros fan much longer than he's been a skater — inline or speed skater. So during his time at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, it's no surprise that he sported World Series champion gear all over the place in his time there.
"I’ve been an Astros fan longer than I’ve been skating,” Garcia said during an interview with NBC Sports. “Hopefully I can fulfill one of my dreams of throwing out the first pitch I’ve been practicing.”
Garcia even tried channeling the winning spirit by replaying Game 5 of the 2017 World Series — a 13-12 win by the Astros over the L.A. Dodgers — to get pumped. Garcia eventually finished 23rd in the long track 500 meters at the Winter Games.

“Yesterday I watched the entire, the entirety of game five of the World Series it just brings back that energy and it was such an amazing game,” Garcia said.
Here are some of his social media posts from PyeongChang.
