Man Killed When His Truck Is Struck By Train In Southwest Houston
Victim, whose name has not been released, sped around stopped car in attempt to beat oncoming freight train.

HOUSTON, TX — A man died on Saturday night around 9 p.m. in southwest Houston when his truck was struck by a freight train near Hillcroft and Fondren. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withhold pending notification of next of kin.
Witnesses said the victim drove rapidly around a car stopped at the railroad crossing in an apparent attempt to cross the tracks before the train arrived. The train pushed his truck about 200 yards from the site of impact into the outbound lanes of Main Street.
The Houston Chronicle reported that Houston police officers responded to the fatal accident.
