Three vehicles and a commuter train were involved in the collision.

HOUSTON, TX — One person was killed on Wednesday evening in a collision that involved a METRORail train and three vehicles around 6 p.m.

According to a METRORail spokesman, two cars were stopped at a red light in the northbound lanes of Main near McGowen Street when the third vehicle, an SUV, approached the intersection at a high rate of speed and lost control. The SUV clipped the stopped cars and flipped over, careening across the intersection and onto the back of the train.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, and the intersection was closed to traffic for several hours while crews cleaned debris and officials investigated.
