NCAA Basketball Tournament: UH And Texas Southern Go Dancing

HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Cougars and Texas Southern University Tigers will both try to be Cinderella in the Big Dance. Both schools made the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament as announced on the Selection Sunday show this afternoon. Both schools will play in the West Region of the tournament.

Houston, the AAC tournament runner-up, is making its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2010. Houston is the No. 6 seed in the West Region. The Cougars will face No. 11-seed San Diego State on Thursday in Wichita, Kansas. The winner moves to the third round to face the winner of No. 3 Michigan and No. 14 Montana.

TSU was the SWAC tournament champion despite starting the season 0-13. The Tigers earned an automatic bid for their tournament title. TSU will play in Dayton, Ohio on Wednesday against North Carolina Central. That game is scheduled to tipoff at 5:40 p.m. CT Wednesday on TruTV. The winner advances as a No. 16 seed to face top-seeded Xavier in Nashville on Friday. The winner of that game moves on to Sunday to face the winner of No. 8 Missouri and No. 9 Florida State.

The Villanova Wildcats, who won the national championship season two years ago, are favored to win it all, according to the latest odds from VegasInsider.com. Duke and the University of Virginia Cavaliers round out the top three favorites. North Carolina, the 2017 national champion, is No. 7. The top 10:
