RadioShack To Close Several Houston-Area Stores Amid Bankruptcy
Company, headquartered in Ft. Worth, plans to shutter nearly 200 locations nationwide.

After announcing plans this month to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time in two years, RadioShack released the list of stores that the company plans to close, which includes at least six Houston-area locations.
The electronics chain seeks to close 187 locations in its second round of bankruptcy filings. The company hopes to liquidate the stores by the end of the month, but some could be shuttered sooner than that.
Here is the list of stores in the Houston area that are slated for closing, per the company's website:

- 2625 S. Loop 35, Alvin 77511 (in Meadow Park Shopping Center)
- 3533 Palmer Highway, Texas City 77590
- 6888 Gulf Freeway, suite 630, Houston 77087
- 5185 W. 34th St., suite 300, Houston 77092 (in Pine HollowShopping Center)
- 14418 Bellaire Blvd., Houston 77083
In addition, Consumerist is reporting that the closures will include the following locations:
- 5804 Kirby Drive, Houston 77005
- 5858 S. Gessner Drive, suite 102, Houston 77036
- 3212 Hillcroft, suite A, Houston 77057
- 5419 Bellaire, Bellaire 77401 (in Bellaire Triangle)
- 2920 Gulf Freeway S., #D, League City 77573 (in League City Market Place)
In all, 19 RadioShack stores in Texas will be closed, according to Consumerist.

RadioShack was founded in 1921 by Theodore and Milton Deutschmann; they opened their first store in downtown Boston. At its peak, in 1999, the company, which is owned by Standard General, operated stores in the U.S., Mexico, the U.K, Australia, and Canada.
