2nd Annual 'Far East Fest' Scheduled In Austin

Event at Asian grocery store H Mart, 11301 Lakeline Blvd., to feature up to 40 restaurants serving Asian fare ranging from Chinese to Thai.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Organizers are gearing up for the second annual Far East Fest, featuring up to 40 restaurants serving up delectable Asian fare from Chinese to Thai.

The event is scheduled at HMart, the massive, 68,670-square-foot Asian grocery store located at 11301 Lakeline Blvd. on Saturday, Feb. 9. The festival will run from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with between 30 to 40 participating restaurants offering Chinese, Indian, Chinese Japanese, Korean and Thai fare. The all-you-can eat festival not only celebrates the culinary offerings of Asia, but the burgeoning population of Asian residents in the Austin area, organizers said.

Up to 5,000 people are expected to attend, purchasing admission tickets for all-you-can-eat sampling throughout the day. For tickets and additional information, click here. General admission tickets are $60, and kids between the ages 6 to 12 get in for $15.

Popular H Mart Asian Grocery Store Chain Making Entry Into Austin Market

Attendees and judges will taste and rate greater Austin’s best culinary offerings as chefs and restaurants compete for awards based on creativity to overall flavor. Winners will be announced toward the end of the event. Organizers noted there also will be a no-hands noodle-eating competition, live musical performances, activities for all ages and special VIP surprise guests.
