With an estimated 8 to 10 inches of rain possible in the Pflugerville area this week, it's important to be prepared for rain and the slick roadways that follow. Flash flooding is common in Central Texas and we must remember to be flood smart. First and foremost, Turn Around, Don't Drown. It only takes a few inches of water and a car can be lifted and swept away. If water is flowing over a roadway, turn around and find another route. Slow down when driving in wet road conditions and allow extra distance between your vehicle and others to allow for extra stopping distance that may be needed.

Follow the National Weather Service for local updates and consider signing up for text and email weather alerts at WarnCentralTexas.org.

If your home or a building floods, remember to contact an inspector before re-entering the home. Be sure to obtain a permit prior to any repairs to the structure through the City of Pflugerville Development Services Department. If you have questions, reach out to 512-990-6300. Be safe and stay flood smart.

Due to construction at Pecan Street and FM 685/Dessau Road, portions of Gilleland Creek Trail are closed underneath Dessau Road and Pecan Street. This area is a hard hat area, as there may be falling debris, so do not move or go around barricades. Visit pflugervilletx.gov/trails to check out a new route and walking options.
