Crux Climbing Center Opens 2nd Location In North Austin

AUSTIN, TX — Crux Climbing Center, a fitness center designed for climbers of all skillsets, will open its second location this Friday, officials said Thursday.

Officials opening the new site located at 6015 Dillard Circle set to open Friday will celebrate with free climbing to anyone with a membership to any gym — regardless of whether it is a climbing gym — from Friday, (Aug. 21), through Sunday (Aug. 23) at its new, Central Austin location. Crux will also offer free climbing at its original location on Pickle Road on Saturday, Aug. 22, in honor of Global Climbing Day.

“Our members are our utmost priority, and we are so excited to build a climbing space central to many of their homes and workplaces,” Kevin Goradia, co-founder and CEO of Crux, said in a prepared statement. “Adding a central location is our first step in expanding Crux’s community to the broader Austin area.”

Details for the new location include:

• The 20,627-square-foot Central Austin location is bouldering-only and located off Airport Boulevard and Dillard Circle next to The Brewtorium in the midst of the bustling Highland neighborhood expansion.
• The new center will employ 20 to 30 new Crux team members and features a yoga studio, fitness area and dedicated kids space.
• Spokesman Coffee Shop has also opened its second location within Crux’s Central facility and will offer coffee, beer, tea, kombucha and other drinks, as well as grab-and-go food items to Crux patrons.
• Tim Derrington—the architect for Crux’s original location—will return to design the Central Austin location.
• The building is leased from Montwalk Holdings, LTD and is owned by Cullen Powell.
