Fire Causes Freight Train To Stop In North Austin

Reports say the fire was out by the time the fire department arrived.

NORTH AUSTIN, TX — An engine fire in a freight train alongside MoPac Boulevard in North Austin caused the train to stop, according to reports.

The Austin Fire Department said the fire was out by the time firefighters arrived, and there were no reported injuries. Motorists passing by the train reported the fire, the AFD said, according to the Statesman.

The fire happened around 9:30 p.m., when firefighters responded to the area near the intersection of Great Northern Boulevard and Foster Lane, the Statesman reported.
