Man Killed In Halite Bend Shooting Identified

Cornelius Ramon Moore of Bastrop was identified by officials on Friday as the man who had been shot and killed on Halite Bend Tuesday.

AUSTIN, TX — A man who was shot and killed in North Austin on Tuesday has been identified, according to the Travis County Sheriff's Office.

Cornelius Ramon Moore of Bastrop was identified by sheriff officials on Friday as the man who had been shot and killed in the 2800 block of Halite Bend.

Police received a 911 call at 11:43 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a man who had been shot near the Boulder Ridge South neighborhood, authorities said.

When deputies arrived, they immediately began CPR on Moore but were unsuccessful. Moore eventually died at the scene. He was 31.

As Sheriff deputies searched for suspects, they were determined a suspect may be near the 6600 block of Deatonhill Drive, authorities said.

The sheriff's office said it immediately requested help from Austin police to check the location. Police determined a suspect was present, and TCSO, Austin Swat and Austin's Crisis Negotiation Team made their way to Deatonhill Drive.

Austin police was later able to locate two suspects and detained them. One person was released after being interviewed by detectives, officials said.

The sheriff's office said detectives believe at least one of the suspects was known to Moore.

This is the third homicide investigated by the Travis County Sheriff’s Office in 2021.
