Man Shot And Killed In North Austin Neighborhood

One man is dead after reports of gunfire were heard in the 100 block of Oertli Lane early Thursday.

AUSTIN, TX — One man is dead after reports of gunfire in a North Austin neighborhood early Thursday.

Officer Michael Bullock, a spokesman for the Austin Police Department, told reporters Thursday a man was found with gunshot wounds shortly after 3:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Oertli Lane.

Bullock said officers tried to treat the man until Austin-Travis County EMS medics arrived. The man was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Authorities said they do not think an ongoing threat to the public exists and that the shooting was an isolated incident. Bullock did not provide any other details about the victim and said police don't yet have a suspect.

Police are seeking the public's help in not only identifying the shooter, but also information about what led to the shooting, he said.
