PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS — Code Ninjas, which combines the thrill of martial arts with the discipline of computer coding is scheduled to open its doors in Pflugerville this weekend.
The learning center is scheduled for an April 20 opening at 2100 Autumn State Dr., Suite 100, aiming its services for kids ages 7-14. The company, themed around martial arts, transforms kids into coding ninjas as soon as they step foot in the ‘Dojo’ where they start out as white belts and move up to black belts as they progress, officials explained.
The mission of Code Ninjas is to teach children computer coding and problem solving skills while having fun building video games. The place is owned and operated by local residents and married couple, Rachael and Regan Davis. The duo met in middle school, graduated from Pflugerville High School and recently moved back to raise their two young children and open a business that would benefit the Pflugerville community, according to a press advisory

After researching various concepts and speaking with education professionals in the district, Rachael discovered many of the surrounding schools don’t incorporate STEM into their core curriculum, she said, which is why she and Regan felt Code Ninjas was a great fit for the area.
“We wanted to bring a cool and interesting coding concept to our hometown,” said Rachael. “Code Ninjas offers local children the chance to learn something that will impact their future in the best way possible, while also keeping things fun and exciting.”

Local children ages 7-14 can look forward to visiting the new Code Ninjas dojo to learn how to code in a safe and social learning environment where gaming is celebrated and STEM is cool," she said "Everything about Code Ninjas is built around fun, which keeps kids coming back. But the center also provides the results that parents are looking for, as their ninjas gain coding and problem-solving skills they’ll need for the jobs of the future."
Toward that goal, Code Ninjas utilizes a robust, game-based curriculum made up of nine belts, just like in martial arts. The curriculum is self-paced, but not self-taught; kids get immediate help and encouragement from Code Senseis and fellow ninjas as they advance from white to black belt, officials said.
The program keeps kids motivated with little wins along the way, and “Belt-Up” celebrations where they receive color-coded wristbands to mark their graduation to the next level. By the time a child finishes the program, they’ll have published a real app in the app store.
Code Ninjas offers a variety of opportunities for children to get involved, including a flexible after school drop-in program, camps and Parents Night Out events on weekends.
Code Ninjas founder and CEO David Graham is a professional software developer who previously owned a successful chain of coding camps for adults, company officials said. After numerous inquiries from parents, Graham realized there was an unmet demand to teach children coding skills. He launched the Code Ninjas brand in 2016.
“Parents want their children to learn the critical skills that they’ll need in the future, but it also has to be fun for kids," Graham said "Code Ninjas has found that sweet spot where kids have fun and parents see results, and we’re truly excited to bring our unique concept to Pflugerville and surrounding communities."
