Pedestrian Killed In North Austin Identified By Police
Connor Avery Hughes, 21, was attempting to cross the 4000 block of Airport Boulevard mid-block when he was struck by a car on Jan. 9.
AUSTIN, TX — Police on Wednesday identified the pedestrian who was fatally struck by a vehicle in North Austin earlier this month.
The incident occurred on Saturday, Jan. 9, just after 9:20 p.m. along the 4000 block of Airport Boulevard, according to a police advisory. That's where Connor Avery Hughes, 21, attempted to cross mid-block along Airport Boulevard before being struck by a blue, 2012 Chevrolet Cruze traveling northbound, police said.
The pedestrian was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he died two days later per the police account. The driver, police added, stayed at the scene to cooperate in an investigation and showed no signs of impairment. Speed also was ruled out as a contributing factor and no charges are expected to be filed against the motorist, police said.

The incident marked Austin’s second fatal traffic crash of 2021, police said, resulting in two fatalities. At the time in 2020, police added, there were three traffic fatalities.
