Pflugerville Announces Traffic Pattern Change At Pecan St., FM685

PFLUGERVILLE, TX — Major traffic patterns changes will take effect at the intersection of Pecan Street and FM 685/Dessau Road starting Wednesday, the city of Pflugerville announced Tuesday.

Traffic heading westbound on Pecan Street will be shifted to the left, with the right turn lane closing, officials said.

All traffic looking to turn left onto southbound Dessau Road will need to detour to Immanuel Road. The middle lane will be used to turn right onto northbound FM 685. The left lane will be used for traffic heading straight only, left turns continue to be prohibited.

For traffic heading eastbound on Pecan Street, traffic turning right onto southbound Dessau Road will be diverted to the left lane, as the right lane will be closed. All other lanes will continue to operate as normal, officials said.

For traffic heading northbound on Dessau Road/FM 685, the left turn lane will be closed.

The middle lane will be used to turn left onto westbound Pecan Street and the right lane will be used to continue straight on FM 685 and turn right onto eastbound Pecan Street, authorities said.

Traffic heading southbound on FM 685/Dessau Road will see the greatest change in their traffic pattern.

Two regular southbound lanes will be closed, and traffic will be shifted to the left into two lanes, one for turning right onto westbound Pecan Street and continuing straight onto Dessau Road, and the other for turning left onto eastbound Pecan Street.

A southbound lane was reopened Thursday, improving the flow of southbound traffic.

Officials said some lanes may reopen periodically due to the pace of construction and encourages drivers to always watch for signage and proceed through the intersection with caution.

Authorities also closed a lane in each direction from just west of Willow Street to a hundred or so feet west of Pecan Street.

Drivers should be aware that Pecan Street is one lane in each direction to the west of this intersection. This means that traffic will condense down to one lane as you travel over the bridge, and then eastbound traffic will open back up to two lanes as you reach the intersection.
