Schlotzsky's To Unveil Austin Homage Re-Branding
Sandwich chain will celebrate its local roots on Saturday with free food and prizes up to $1,000 as it reveals new menu offerings.

AUSTIN, TX — Texas-born Schlotzsky’s this week will celebrate its Austin roots in a big way, offering free food to patrons as it unveils its re-branding as Schlotzsky’s Austin Eatery, officials announced on Wednesday.
The revamp celebration is scheduled on Saturday, July 13, at all 370 of the chain's sandwich shops nationwide, including (naturally) those in Austin. The revamping aims to pay homage to the chain's Austin origins with its original store on South Congress in 1971, officials noted.
To celebrate the chain's new look, its vibe and revamped menu, Schlotzsky's restaurants across Austin are hosting fun-filled grand re-opening events complete with specials, prizes, and more on July 13. All day long, Austin residents can enjoy $2.99 small The Original sandwiches and enter to win $100 and up to $1,000 by checking into the Schlotzsky’s rewards app, officials said in a press advisory.

Those joining the party will witness the breadth of changes: Handcrafted food and beverage offerings; eclectic design; and "...an inviting atmosphere perfect for a unique dining experience," officials said.
Key to achieving the new look was Nathan "Sloke One" Nordstrom, an Austin native who has been producing graffiti professionally since the 90s. Specializing in the use of spray paint, Nordstrom travels the world to exhibit and curate art shows while producing murals for various entities. When not globe-trotting, the artist gives back to his hometown by teaching art and mentoring youth for Austin ISD schools, City of Austin youth programs and the Mexican American Cultural Center.

In addition to the re-branding event, free sandwich floaties modeled after the chain's original sandwich will be doled out for free at the Schlotzsky’s on 2545 W. Anderson Lane to those downloading the Schlotzsky's loyalty app, officials said. That floatie giveaway will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on a "while supplies last" basis, officials said.
